Finished of the surrounding area with rock work. I trenched the front and left perimeter roughly 2 inches and filled with pea gravel so hopefully that's enough to prevent any water from coming in during a heavy storm.

On the right right side you can see the ground is slightly higher and pitched towards the pond. When i started to dig I noticed mud along the edge on the liner so this area is likely where the water came Into the pond. Without trying to grade a huge area, I dug about 6-8" along the right side all the way to the patio walkway and filled with pea gravel and rock. I tried to create a slight berm under the liner edge and I hope this will drain any heavy rain water to the patio instead of the pond. Time will tell.

Question, I need to add about an 1" of water which is probably 50-75 gallons I'm guessing. Will this small amount be ok to add directly from the hose? Can I add the water followed by Prime?

That should help.
I raised the ground by around 1-2 inches on the up side of my pond. I have nothing but sloping down to the pond.
That slight raise has kept the yard run off out of the pond.

I used to go out during down pours and watch the water flow, mark problem areas and fix them.

It's a good idea for even established ponds to check on water flow during heavy rains. We had iris borers get into our yellow flag iris, so I had to pull them up - they were growing both in and out of the pond, so the ones in the pond are fine. The ones outside the pond were dead. The first heavy rainfall after that we noticed we had a murky pond - removing the irises had left a small area that was prone to runoff. Easy fix, next heavy rain - no more runoff.

I wasn't all that sad about my irises by the way - they needed thinning and the borers made my job easy!

As long as no lightening! Then I stay in, no umbrella holding wandering the yard.

Oh come on now @addy1 - live dangerously!

Actually lightening scares me half to death - we were camping when I was a kid and my older cousin was sitting in a metal lawn chair at the edge of the tent and the chair got struck by lightening. Burned the back of his legs, deafened him for about a week and made the loudest CRACK I've ever heard. Something you never forget! We did tease him in later years because the hair never grew back on the backs of his legs - we would tell him "I can still smell it burning!"

When I top off my pond I do not add anything. I put the hose at the top of the waterfall and turn it on slow.

Currently the pond has been up and running for two weeks. I added (30) 2inch goldfish at day 3 with Aquascape starter bacteria. When I test with the API freshwater kit my eyes are telling me that my ammonia is still at 0 and my nitrites are 0 as well. PH is 8.2 and water temp is 78f. On the other hand the fish seem to be doing fine. They are very active and eating every other day with omega flakes. I figured at the two-week mark I would see some activity on the test kit but I guess if the fish I doing well then nothing really to see here huh

That's a lot of goldfish in a pond your size - how many gallons did you say you have? I know they're 2 inches long now but they'll be 6 or 8 inches long when full grown and goldfish breed like crazy. I hope they all survive but you may want to start planning some re-homing!

1000 gallons. I have plans of removing quite a few once they grow

I came to my family's house in upstate NY and grabbed a few frogs from his pond. Will these survive in my little pond if I bring them home?
