Blue-eyed Grass and goldfish.

Rocky Mountain Penstemon has been an awesome addition to the garden. Pollinators are loving it. I love it because it's so blue. I thought it might be more on the purple side, but I'm happy with it.

I also love the way it looks along my bog next to Blue Flag Iris. They're a great combination.

I expected we would have tons already, but still nothing. (I should probably keep this information to myself... they are not missed!)

They really ruin my garden walk each morning. It was great before they showed up, but soon there will be too many to even take a photo without being eaten alive. They aren't as bad around the pond, but out by the garden they get really bad.

Rain, rain, rain is finally over after 3.5” of rain in three days. It really did a good job of “rinsing” the pond.
We've just had a good 'rinsing' as well - but our total rainfall was 12.5" over about 3 1/2 days. The sun finally came out today & it was a most welcome sight! Pond is crystal clear now, though! All that old pollen & tinted water from Spring has been flushed away! lol

I would be happy to package up some of mine & send them to you. All the rain we had over the past few days finally kicked them into gear. Oh well, I knew they were coming.

Hardly ever see any of those blood suckers around our property and I want to keep it that way!

and STILL NO MOSQUITOES!
We don't get any here, the street over they complain about the mosquitoes, here at our house none. I think the birds, dragon flies, toads, bats keep them all killed off. And we have a lot of water around, not all running all of the time.

We have tons of bats that we see every evening and the pond attracts lots of dragonflies. But we are surrounded by lakes and ponds and streams and wetlands and puddles... We are blessed to get lots of rainfall, but the other side of that is lots of mosquitoes. We had a variety a few years ago (after some serious flooding) that they said had lay dormant for decades - the high flood waters allowed them to finally hatch. OH THE CELEBRATION THEY HAD! Haha!

We have streams and dry streams Ie puddles that sit until it rains hard again. There are lakes but some distance from us. Farm lakes/big ponds.

They say that mosquites hunt in a 100 foot area. If you keep your area clean you are safe. Not sure if that is true or not. But I do know the neighbors on a street over, (you can see the backs of their houses when leaves are off the trees in the woods) complain a lot about the biters.

I apologize this is only indirectly related to our pond, but it protects our area’s biodiversity.

In a years-long effort inspired by the late (great) Meyer Jordan, local volunteers here have convinced the city and State to protect the wild area bordering our property. Despite ongoing development, the last wild area around here will remain a forest. (y)

It’s a wee one mile of woods with a small salmon spawning stream; I’m ecstatic that it’s now protected.

Up here in Arlington they are doing away w/all our wooded areas slowly but surely. I feel bad for all the critters that need a place to live and make their nests and keep their babies safe from humans :(
Nice they are saving some area's near you @Troutredds
