My skimmer project
I covered the under side of my skimmer lid with Styrofoam insulation.. I also mounted a electric light under the lid as well. I did not have any incandescent lights. So I had to use a florescent light . The water was frozen about 3 inches deep in the skimmer. The pond is frozen over for at least 5 inches. After 4 days the skimmer water was unfrozen even with out the incandescent light. I am enclosing some photos. Since my pond is connected to the skimmer with 6 " deep water by maybe 20 inches wide. I do not have the floating door attach at the moment so the water way is unobstructed from pond to skimmer allowing the gases to escape I hope.
