@addy1, thanks for the info. I believe someone (maybe you) posted it before. I'm definitely going to give this a more serious try. Problem is that non starchy veggies don't taste good!
you can do starchy, just controlled amounts. Look at the using your hand to give you an idea of what amount to eat.

He used to eat one of those huge potatoes, we now buy the small red, one is more than enough. Eats sweet potatoes now.
Fiber fiber fiber, add beans, freaka, quinoa, brown rice, lentils to every meal..........weight falls off.
Lots of veggies, he loves them now..........lol veggies with every meal, even breakie sometimes.
We still have ice cream just occasional, same with chocolate bars. No sodas, no fake sugars except monk fruit or stevia, both plant based.

roflmao! NO

I don't know if you belong to costco, if we have hamburger it is organic (costco), very low fat, but not cheap, but better for you then cheap hamburger. Cheaper than at a store.
Low fat yogurt (which he never liked) with frozen or fresh berries with some agave sweetner (low glycemic index) from costco with the good stuff included in it.
Learning to eat fish, non fried, oven baked or pan cooked with avocado oil, olive oil, coconut oil.

Lots of ways to cut back on the bad but still really enjoy your food.

We eat nothing processed, everything is home made, even most of any breads we eat, or if bought, high fiber high protein ow do not buy.

It was hard conversion, lots of thought put into food, until we got used to the food flow, now don't think of it at all.

What he went through scared us both horribly, from healthy, running working out, at a gym, swimming, to the first test, nuc med, still not worried since even doc said prob nothing, got the call come in and see me tomorrow.................BOOM.............go home take these heart attack preventative meds, do nothing, sit on the couch, next day an emergency heart cath, then he was taken by ambulance in the middle of the night to a hospital that did bypass surgery. Two days later cut open all docs surprised he was having no symptoms, worried he would have a heart attack before they could fix him. Everybody, nurses, techs, doctors, case workers saying to him you are so lucky to be alive.
He had emergent by pass on saturday.

So yeah we are changing everything we do and eat. I am not ready to lose another husband..................

Don't tell him yet Red till he tells us where he lives. I have it figured perhaps he lives about 15 mins from Stevens Hospital but I could have picked the wrong hospital but if I have it right I think he lives in Edmonds or Lynnwood area...........

If I had to guess, j.w, I'd say Monroe - he did say small regional hospital... See John; even when you're off your game, you entertain us. (y)

I will add another thought which I had with my wife afterwards. I think it was a lot of serendipity that there was a heart specialist on call at that small hospital. What are the chances of that? If I hadn't shown up, this doctor would have spent all night doing his chart notes or something. I wonder how many times this doctor shows up and he goes home without anyone needing him.

Ok John which one of us wins the prize?
Umm, I think I'm gonna keep you guys guessing!
