Your mama bird is adorable! I love wrens, they are so cute how they flit around. So friendly with humans, too, it seems.
Would you suggest arachanis (sp?) or hornwart for pond plants, Addy? Seems the first one grows faster, but they are both rated to zone 4 I think. I had some last year, maybe it will still come back, although it didn't grow very well last year.

Love that little bird, she just sits there and watches me. I walked up as it was leaving the nest it just hopped down to the ground and disappeared in the yard junk I have stacked up down there.

Well, in my ponds, let me start with the big pond.

It is all just now starting to come back,

It has aracharnis and hornwort. The hw stays in the deep end, grows up like little trees (last summer was the first summer with it) clumps here and there. The arach, grew in clumps here and there, the fish did not eat it all up. When I went to clean the big pond i.e. net the bottom all I was netting out was hornwort with great white roots. So I quit netting.

in the 1000 gallon pond, the hw grew like huge trees, almost interfered with the lilies, arach grew among the lilies.

in the lotus pond, the arach grew with the lotus, covered the pond (lost a lot of it when I had to fix the pond, it does not like being dry, but regrowing) froze solid

in the stream pond, the lowest one, the arach froze solid is now growing back beautifully. no hw
this is last summer

in the small preform pond, the arach and hw both froze solid both coming back beautifully

It all took off the second summer I had it, the first it sort of piddled along.

I'm wondering if what I got last year will emerge yet, but keep watching and don't see anything coming out of any of the pots. Thought I put it in a pot with no lily, so I would not goof up and dig it up, but don't see it.

I have frogs frogs frogs, they were croaking so nice, turned on the video, they stopped..............darn things. The lower stream pond has around 8 in it.

I made this platform to save the turtles, the frogs love it too. I have not finished dressing it out yet.

Nifty platform there. I tossed in one of my floating net rings after seeing the goldfish spawning, also got a cotton mop head and hung it where they had spawned. Maybe ... just maybe ... an egg or two will hatch and the fry will have something to hide in and around. Just an experiment.

That frog loves it! Always sitting there. They like fishless ponds and the lotus tub is fishless. It froze so bad the rosey reds didn't make it.

The crazy frogs did their first egg dump in a puddle of water in the bog.
