Well the seam did not hold. Filled it 1/4 the way up and let it sit and after just a hour and a half i lost 2 inches of water. Have snow coming in today so later in the week when it warms up I’m going to take all the rock out and really flatten out the seam. Then I am going to liquid rubber/tar the whole seam. Let that set up and the. Take a 12” wide piece of edpm and lay it across the tarred seam and tar that in for extra protection. I don’t think I let everything set up enough or dry out enough.

Your terms liquid rubber tar are not epdm terms are materials that are toxic to fish. I suggest you tube and view how to seam epdm. putting something over a failed seam is a bad idea unless its put a strip of rubber over and seam both. seam under the over lap . then I would seam the joint on top so you have 2 seams in one location.

That’s what I’m going to do. I only had a few goldfish so I’m not worried about that right now. I’m going to rubber over and reseam it

That product is for roofs that have been in place for a few years and the sun and or some minor leaks have surfaced. it is a small hole filler and to stop further uv deterioration. As far as I know that is not for seaming . but good luck. if you were painting a concrete wall it's possible that could do the trick for yea.

I found the web site for your product and here is one of there comments
Not trying to insult you in any way theres only one chance to get it right the first time and when you have fish it's all planted and a leak START IT IS THE WORST . I saw you had what looked to be seam tape and another gallon of ? PRIMER? Just trying to get you a bullet proof seam !!!!!!!

Started from scratch this morning. Laid a plastic table underneath to make a perfectly flat surface. Cleans with soap and water. Let dry. Put down edpm primer. Double sided tape. Then the single sided tape. Then used the liquid rubber over that. Then used gorilla glue waterproof tape which was way more tacky than the seam tape over it all with a few layers. Then every 2 hours I did more coats of liquid rubber for 4 total. I have way more faith in this seam then I did last week. All products are made for pond waterproofing and are water based. Letting cute over night and will hit with one more coat of liquid rubber in the morning then I will shape back in and start filling.

Ok tomorrow’s the day. I cleaned it to a surgical level. Spread plenty of primer. Plenty of layers of tape. And just put on my 4th coat of liquid rubber. Tomorrow I’m going to fill it up a few feet and mark it with a white marker and let it sit over night. If no leak I will fill it up a few more feet and so on and so on. Wish me luck.
