pond pumps and filters

new pump came today but winds out side are strong 40 to 50 mph and we got rain last night so snow is going bye bye fast .It is 46 degrees outside and really want to see what pump does but may wait until tomorrow after the winds die down

new pump should it leak around the seal even after I tightened screws .Tried to get good pics.last pic is water coming from seal hope it shows up

NOT SURE IF i SHOULD RETURN IT .There is water in the bottom of the shaft opening.rubber tip on the end of the shaft last pic

there is no rubber seal between the front and the back of the pump should there be a piece there like a gasket

hope this helps haro .I thought all pumps had a gasket or seal between the front and the back

I posted to him he is going to take his apart and see .I may have to make up a seal or see if laguna will send me one

Figured I'd reply here, Sissy. Sorry to take so long, but company dropped in! I don't have that particular model at home, but went through my Laguna info/parts lists, and there SHOULD be a seal under the impeller housing, although I don't know if it's an "O:-ring or something different. This should be around the extension shown in the last picture you posted. From past experience, I THINK it's an "O"-ring. Lubricate this lightly with a silicone lube or a small dab of petroleum jelly, then slide the housing over it carefully.

ok thanks so much haro and yep there is an O ring and it is damaged and I contacted laguna since I just received it today and they gave me a case number and will see what they do .Thanks for your help I did not even see that o ring ,it looks chewed up in 2 spots .Brand new wonder how that happened

MURPHY'S LAW always happens to me.pumps good and can that be why it says 55 watts but it is drawing over 58 watts

also in the pics all those bubbles are before it is even plugged in

Some of their pumps have empty spaces in the case that fill up with water, I wonder if that is where the bubbles were coming from. See what Laguna has to say on the subject, and please let me know. Good luck!

They said they will get back to me on thursday as monday is a holiday .I found O rings in my bag of tricks and it is the same size .I was not sure if water was supposed to be inside the impellar well where the shaft goes in .I guess I never paid much attention to them before.I will let you know
