It's not too terribly cold here so I had removed the plastic off my upper pond so sun could shine in... But for days now it's cloudy and grey!

Desperately in need of a few good sunny days! Wishing it was sunny and warmer with happy birds singing!

I purchased a new pool light (50% off!) for under our flagstone shelf. The lense is six inches across, with a ton of LEDs to light the center of our pond. The installation was a hand/arm numbing experience, with water temps in the low 40s F range! Here's a grainy shot from last night to give you an idea of the results...

I'm pleased with it, but the large size is overkill. The light it replaced was too small and dim.

Saturday morning everything was fine, Saturday afternoon the pond was still and silent, that is not a good thing at my pond. My under ground electrical system had gotten wet from EXCESSIVE precipitation, the GFCI kept tripping off. At least it wasn't the pump. I've ran an extension cord until we dry out a bit. Hey Mitch, check out MY ice, Jan 30th. it's about 4x10" and 10mm thick!

I really enjoy being able to view our fish more clearly at night. Now if I can only train the trout to stop knocking the new light over! I have it wedged between heavy rocks but some of our fish are like curious mischievous kids.

For some reason I thought you only had trout. Looks like you have koi too. @Troutredds
Yep, both - and a few comets. They all live in simulated natural harmony! Seriously, though, they all grew up together over the last four years and tend to get along fairly well.
