Thalia will survive here outside, the plant needs to have it root mass sunk below freeze line, So my one thalia will be sunk in the pond before it starts freezing up, it is in the bog right now, and the roots would freeze.

Wow, then maybe I can just sink that whole pot to the bottom. It has the hibiscus, though, too, so will have to do some checking about that plant. I wondered about putting it at the bottom. The landscape place doesn't have a deep enough pond. In fact, I wonder what they do with the fish that are in there now. Some of them are koi, at least I think they are. I may just go there and offer to "take them off their hands" this fall. LOL
No one has told me what they think the tiny blue flowers are on the other plant in that holder. The star flower grass is in there, too, so sounds like it would be best to put them all in the garage in a tub of water. I may take some of the Thalia out and put it in a separate container and sink it just to see which does best. :)

Great site, JW, thanks. But, alas, I am in Zone 5, so I probably will need to either put them to the bottom (the site says take them out, so not sure) or put them in the garage, as I originally planned. I did message Larkin/Fishin. :) I bet I'll get a response for sure from that message.

The star grass should be brought inside, our garage freezes, I have to bring in items so they don't freeze. I don't recall but think rated to zone 8 or so.

i have see the blue flower one, just can't recall, working on it lol

For the ladies only!

Ok addy, here is one of my lotus inspired floral pieces.
This is the dining room one, the one that I made for the
living room (my favorite) will follow as soon as we get some natural
light in the house. It's raining and dark today.
I hope you like it.
the twisted branches are from our Harry Lauder walking stick tree
and the cat tails from our pond.

 Why is this for ladies only? What us guys can't appreciate a flower arrangment? I like it, Like the vase even more, that's cool! I would like to find something like that that would go outside with a plant growing in it.
And I have a question about your arrangement, What is that right below the cattail that looks like a round bowl in the arrangement itself?

Oh that's nice and the lotus pods are really interestingly cool looking. Love your vase too. I've got a fairly new Harry Lauders tree............can't wait till the leaves fall off!

Well, I'm glad you like it addy, are you a believer now that lotus pods
can look nice in an arrangement? If you like this,
you'll like the living room one as well...No silk it the LR one,
it's all natural.

Fishin, the round thing is something I found in Michaels arts and crafts.
The big fish vase our son bought us back from a trip
he took to Nantucket.
I think this arraingement has a mix of feminine and masculine spirits, maybe
that's why you like it fishin, or is it the fish you like? :)

thanks JW, when you trim you tree (after it gets bigger) save all the twisted
branches for arraingements.

lol Joanne, it wasn't me that did not like the pods in arrangements, I actually use them just for that. don't recall who said that.

The arrangement is VERY pretty, Joanne! It never ceases to amaze me how people can take items normally not very pretty and put them together to make such unusual and interesting center pieces. And, dried arrangements do not wilt and die, that's the best part!
