Here are some pictures:

This is the lowest level:

This is a picture of the pond:

This is a view of where the waterfall will go from the top:

And the splashpool at the bottom of the waterfall:

This is a panorama of the garden as viewed from the river bed (Yes, that is water flowing. We've had so much rain recently that the water table has risen and actually caused the river to flow):

Hope the river does not get really high .You may have to watch for splash over coming from that height .Wind can add to splash over blowing water out of pond .Not sure how high that is but you will have to look at head height for the pump you buy .

The river will get about as high as the bottom step, it covers the whole river bed. I don't think it's much more than 2 foot deep.

The water fall will be approximately 2m tall. There will be no fish in the splash pool.

The highest the water has ever been in the two years that I've lived here is about 3 ft or thereabouts. The water level might spill over the bottom step bout it won't get any higher, unless there's a really freaky bout of heavy rain which is probably unlikely.

UPDATE: The garden is progressing really slowly now, as the gardener hasn't turned up for work since some time before NYE, due to the terrible rain we've had recently.

Update: Pond is now finally taking shape! This is the fish pond, with shelves and inlet and outlet streams now dug. Total pond length with shelves is maybe 7 or 8 foot? We will be measuring later today to get a good estimate for volume. Deep square bit is about 4' deep, shelves are about 1-1.5' deep, streams are about 1' deep, and the ground level will be higher than it is now.

You should, some do them on a scheduled basis, some on a off and on basis. Mine gets water changes when it rains.

Your pond is taking shape!

Oh well we get plenty of that here. I just really don't know how you would go about one, my 10L bucket wouldn't make much of a dent

We are on a well, so I rely on rain to do nice water changes.

I should explain, I feed gutter water into my pond, some do that, some are against it. It is not just rain fall that changes out the water. When we get a good rain a lot of water gets changed out.

I have been doing it for 4 years now, no issues, we are in a rural area.
