Here are some pictures of the pond! You can see on the one -- a pink lotus blossom and its already brown and dead sibling. Sissy, I will try adding fertilizer this weekend. It's worth a try!
Including a goofy picture of me with my jurassic elephant ears! They are massive this year!
Also put in a picture of a lotus leaf with water droplets. The picture doesn't show how crazy cool it looked in real life. The water drops were like diamonds!

my elephant ears did not get as big as last year and can't understand why since we had so much rain .I fertilized them the same but wonder if all the rain washed the fertilizer out into the lawn instead of to the roots of the plants .We got some pretty hard rains .Sweet potato vines are doing better .I

@sissy -- I love sweet potato vines! Yours are beautiful! I always get these little gold metallic beetles that eat them up. The one year I didn't have the beetles, the vines went crazy and came back the next season. I moved them to put something else in, and lo and behold, I had a MASSIVE tuber under the surface. I am not exaggerating at all when I say it was the size of my head! Crazy!

@sissy - you are a wonder woman!

@bagsmom - not goofy at all! You're adorable! And your pond is SO BEAUTIFUL! Just try and convince anyone that it's brand new!

@addy1 - obviously being neglected suits your pond just fine! We were at a pond store this week and they had snails for sale. TWO DOLLARS A PIECE! The last time I bought them I got 20 for $10.

Two bucks a pop is the cheapest I've seen them in the West 'burbs. Usual is $3 or $3.50. I bought a bunch mail order last year and eventually lost almost all of them, so this year I picked up 10 for $20 and figure they can multiply or not. (I'm not blaming mail order, could very well have lost them because they had too little to eat in a new pond.)
