They are broadcasting from Delray Beach, where we have our 4 places. We talked one older lady into leaving and going to stay in a "safer" place. At least she is with someone. The house she lives in I am not to worried about, solid block, low to the ground. The other places who knows................
One is east of the evacuation line, I need to see if I can get them to leave. It is a 3rd floor unit, but .............it faces the full force of the winds.

We are planning and making lists of what we will need to take with us to repair and recover the places.

BTW we are selling places cheap TODAY! at steep discounts!

I'm concerned about our boat in south Florida, which we use as a second home. We installed 2 hurricane straps before we left the end of March. Called the marina this morning. The employees all hope to be gone by noon today. The stern is facing south. I wish the boat was turned 180 degrees. Not gonna happen though.

During a hurricane you usually hear meteorologists refer to its intensity by categories. If you don't know the difference between a category 1 and a category 5 hurricane, The Weather Channel meteorologist Mark Elliot breaks it down for you.

Category one...you might lose roofing and trees fall dow.
Category five... no roof and no trees left.
It's terrifying.
It's begun to shift west. Bringing the eye off of the east coast. But bringing higher danger to the west.
The west coast did not evacuate and now it's way too late.
Please forgive my seemingly uncaring sense if humor.
Far from uncaring. I'm actually scared to death.
Knowing the worst. Hoping for the best.
I'm a very large man that most people do not understand.
Please don't think that I'm taking this one lightly.
This is no wimpy 75 mph cat one.

@ZEROPILOT keep us updated............

My husband read if you have things you really value, ie not water proof etc, put them in the dish washer, water proof, tied down.
Check snopes that doesn't work.

Zeropilot I wish you luck, certainly wish you had evacuated. We have been in full prep mode here on the coast and I have family and friends staying with us who have evacuated. It is nasty and expected to cause catastrophic damage.

Zeropilot, what is your elevation?

The house is in an area of about 12 feet above sea level.
We are generally helped by our huge series of canals.
There is exceptional drainage here because south Florida is mostly drained and built up swampland.
I do, however have flood insurance. As well as hurricane damage insurance.
Almost everyone has a separate hurricane policy. Mine is about $5,000 a year.
It's a nice, warm, clear night.
